Takeoff & quality control

Separate glass types in a glazing estimate

Similar-looking panels can require different make-ups, coatings and tested assemblies. Retain the exact project designations in the takeoff.

What to check before measurement

  1. Separate IGU, laminated, toughened/tempered and spandrel designations.
  2. Record thickness, coatings, frit and edge requirements when specified.
  3. Keep fire, acoustic and security assemblies tied to their complete reference.

A practical bid example

Vision IGU G-01 and opaque spandrel SP-01 must remain separate supplier lines even if their measured area is equal.

What the reviewer should receive

A glass designation matrix with specification references and a pending field for missing information.

Keep revisions and responsibility visible

Record the source sheet, detail or specification and revision beside the affected item. When information conflicts, leave the affected quantity or price pending and attach a question for the authorised project contact. A blank or unresolved entry must never be silently converted into zero.

Before issuing a revised package, identify changed, removed and added items. Separate measurement corrections from new scope and keep the previous output marked as superseded. The contractor retains final tender review and approval.
