Glazing labour and equipment allowances

Installation allowances need a defined method, access strategy and rate source. Facade area alone cannot establish crew duration or equipment cost.

What to check before measurement

  1. Separate shop fabrication from site installation hours.
  2. Record crew composition, productivity source and access restrictions.
  3. Include lifters, platforms, cranage and mobilisation only on an agreed basis.

A practical bid example

A vacuum lifter rental rate excludes the operator and may exclude delivery. Keep those inputs separate rather than hiding them inside a glass-area rate.

What the reviewer should receive

An allowance sheet with quantity driver, rate source, duration, exclusions and review status.

Keep revisions and responsibility visible

Record the source sheet, detail or specification and revision beside the affected item. When information conflicts, leave the affected quantity or price pending and attach a question for the authorised project contact. A blank or unresolved entry must never be silently converted into zero.

Before issuing a revised package, identify changed, removed and added items. Separate measurement corrections from new scope and keep the previous output marked as superseded. The contractor retains final tender review and approval.
