Outsourcing decisions

Glazing takeoff vs. ongoing bid support

Per-project measurement, recurring estimating capacity and bid proposal support are different engagements. Define what decisions remain with your team.

What to check before measurement

  1. Choose quantities, pricing support or proposal drafting.
  2. Specify revision rounds and communication ownership.
  3. Agree capacity, response windows and escalation paths for recurring work.

A practical bid example

A monthly capacity brief should state expected tender volume and system complexity. It is not an unlimited promise to price every incoming drawing set.

What the reviewer should receive

A scope of services with capacity, acceptance criteria and final approval ownership.

Keep revisions and responsibility visible

Record the source sheet, detail or specification and revision beside the affected item. When information conflicts, leave the affected quantity or price pending and attach a question for the authorised project contact. A blank or unresolved entry must never be silently converted into zero.

Before issuing a revised package, identify changed, removed and added items. Separate measurement corrections from new scope and keep the previous output marked as superseded. The contractor retains final tender review and approval.
