Storefront & shopfront

Storefront doors and hardware responsibilities

Entrance hardware crosses glazing, ironmongery and electrical scopes. Link every scheduled set to its opening and responsible party.

What to check before measurement

  1. Count leaves, pivots, closers, locks and panic hardware.
  2. Identify electrified locks, power supplies and access-control interfaces.
  3. Confirm supply, installation, wiring and commissioning ownership.

A practical bid example

A powered entrance with one pair of leaves may require hardware by the glazier and wiring by another trade. The door count alone does not define the allowance.

What the reviewer should receive

A door-to-hardware matrix with supply/install/by-others and unresolved columns.

Keep revisions and responsibility visible

Record the source sheet, detail or specification and revision beside the affected item. When information conflicts, leave the affected quantity or price pending and attach a question for the authorised project contact. A blank or unresolved entry must never be silently converted into zero.

Before issuing a revised package, identify changed, removed and added items. Separate measurement corrections from new scope and keep the previous output marked as superseded. The contractor retains final tender review and approval.
