Storefront & shopfront

Common storefront estimating scope gaps

Review the edges of the storefront package: the supporting opening, perimeter details and hardware interfaces often contain unassigned work.

What to check before measurement

  1. Check break metal, backing, headers and supports.
  2. Assign perimeter caulking and waterproofing tie-ins.
  3. Include protection, testing and access where required by the brief.

A practical bid example

An elevation shows a complete storefront, while the jamb detail calls for a closure angle. Record the angle and its owner rather than assuming it is included in the main frame.

What the reviewer should receive

A scope-gap log with source detail, quantity status and responsible-party question.

Keep revisions and responsibility visible

Record the source sheet, detail or specification and revision beside the affected item. When information conflicts, leave the affected quantity or price pending and attach a question for the authorised project contact. A blank or unresolved entry must never be silently converted into zero.

Before issuing a revised package, identify changed, removed and added items. Separate measurement corrections from new scope and keep the previous output marked as superseded. The contractor retains final tender review and approval.
