Storefront & shopfront

Storefront and shopfront takeoff checklist

Break the opening into system profiles, glass, entrances and perimeter details. Avoid combining lengths from incompatible frame systems.

What to check before measurement

  1. Record thermal break, frame depth and glazing position.
  2. Measure heads, sills, jambs, mullions, subsills and corner profiles separately.
  3. Reconcile entrance leaves and hardware against the door schedule.

A practical bid example

Two equal-width openings can use different subsills and jamb conditions. Grouping by width alone hides the extra profiles.

What the reviewer should receive

A profile tally and opening schedule with finish, system and detail references.

Keep revisions and responsibility visible

Record the source sheet, detail or specification and revision beside the affected item. When information conflicts, leave the affected quantity or price pending and attach a question for the authorised project contact. A blank or unresolved entry must never be silently converted into zero.

Before issuing a revised package, identify changed, removed and added items. Separate measurement corrections from new scope and keep the previous output marked as superseded. The contractor retains final tender review and approval.
